When I first started the C-STEP Summer Mentoring program at Hofstra University as a Middle School student, I was just a quiet, shy, and nonchalant person who barley spoke to anyone. All that changed when I was paired with Ms. Benjamin as my success mentor.
Being paired with Ms. Ange Benjamin as my mentor was the best thing for the both of us. Her sweet, but tough love approach helped me to come out of my comfort zone, especially transitioning from Middle into High School.
5 years later, as a sophomore college student, who is transitioning into adulthood I am able to continue to evolve and explore up my horizons all thanks to one encounter with Ms. Benjamin as a middle schooler which changed my life for the best.

Ange Benjamin provided me with a tremendous amount of support and information, She guided me step by step from my personal statement to the interview.

She provided me with proofreading services , She explained to me different interview scenarios that I may face when going on a graduate school interview. Overall her support and diligence helped me get into a top university Graduate school program in NC ! She is truly gifted and I’m grateful!

If i had to rate my experience with Ms. Benjamin, it would definitely be a 10/10 experience. She was extremely helpful and insightful on ways to pursue and even alter my career goals to a way the best suited my current situation. She provided dozens of resources that really helped to give me confidence i needed to make those first steps and every step that would follow.
She answered every question with a pleasant and level headed demeanor and even gave me back up choices in case my current path ended up not being what i had in mind. She’s very personable and takes on every task given to her as though it were her own path we were planning. Although my time working with her was brief, i am grateful for her help and comforted by the knowledge that i could always rely back on her if anything were to happen.

In the two years I’ve had the pleasure of working with Ange, I have watched her go above and beyond for all students that she has encountered.
Ange has provided students with a level of care that many students who come from the demographic that we serve do not often receive. Through Ange’s careful guidance, students have flourished emotionally and academically which has allowed them to reach any goal that they have set for themselves.
With Ange’s emotional intelligence and level of professionalism students’ lives have been changed permanently and for the better.

I am currently a student pharmacist at Binghamton University School of Pharmacy. I am thankful to Ange for her guidance and support in this challenging process.
Ange made it clear to me what is expected of a graduate student, and what needed to be done to successfully be admitted into a graduate-level program. Ange provided support with pre-requisite requirements and my application process leading up to my interview and acceptance.
During that time, I was overwhelmed and unclear of what steps should be taken to reach
my goal. As a part of my application into Binghamton’s School of Pharmacy, a resume and personal statement was required. At that point, I had never written a personal statement or had a resume of any significance.
Ange helped me organize and build myself to be a stronger applicant. She
informed me of what graduate programs expect from students and promoted professionalism in my application process.
She proofread my personal statement and gave me constructive criticism that
strengthened my writing. After I submitted my application, a few weeks later, to my surprise, I was
contacted for an interview!
Ange prepared a mock interview for me so that I would be fully
prepared for what was asked of me.
Ange provided positive words of encouragement to me as I
entered my interview.
I was accepted into pharmacy school, and I am very grateful for Ange’s help and support.
She is a very good resource that I would happily recommend to anyone.
Ange is a kind, educated,
and well-rounded person. I felt very comfortable with expressing my concerns with her, and I am
confident in her ability to form positive impacts in the lives of students looking to further their
education.

I have had the pleasure of working with Ange at Rutgers University-Newark.
We worked in
separate departments, but shared one of the same responsibilities as crisis management
responders for the housing department on campus.
Ange’s work ethic and her ability to
empathetically serve her community along with the passion, grace, and kindness truly shows in
her work ethic.
I have witnessed Ange balance multiple hats working for multiple departments
even though she truly held one title in her position.
I believe in her and the skills she possesses
to get any job or task done.
Her dedication to her craft and the people she serves will leave an
ever lasting impression, and will keep you coming back for her services!

When I first started college I was nervous about joining clubs or extracurriculars during my first semester so I found myself in the spring nervous to introduce myself to the people around me.
When I got an email to join the honor council I signed up immediately and the first person I met was Ange.
She made me feel extremely welcome and gave me the courage and mentoring to step into adulthood with confidence during a time I needed support.
Even after I left the honor council she was always there as a support system and as someone who I knew was in my corner. From it I grew to not only complete my degree early, but debt free, on my own merit and working in the city making a name for myself.
She was truly an impactful relationship back when I needed it and a connection I will always be grateful for.

I met Ange as a senior at Rutgers University Newark. I was in the honor council and she was the graduate assistant we all worked with.
I decided I wanted to go into higher ed around that time, and Ange was really helpful in helping me get good ideas so I could tailor my experience to make me a good candidate for graduate prep programs.
Additionally, as a rising professional and now a new professional with almost a year of experience under my belt; I know that I can count on Ange for professional advice in the same way I was able to as a budding professional.
As a graduate advisor, Ange was valuable in the beginnings of my providing guidance to students; and even now as a Residence Life professional I often think about Angel’s advice and our conversations about student success.
I honestly would not be the professional I am today without Ange Benjamin

I have known Ms. Ange for the full 4 years of college at Rutgers University in Newark. When we first met, I was a passionate freshman with no sense of direction or where to implement my voice.
I joined the Honors Society at Rutgers under Ms. Ange’s mentorship shortly after. Although I have had several mentors throughout my life, Ms. Ange not only took me under her wing as a lost but driven student, but she has consistently stood by me every step of the way.
I give this title of mentorship and advisor a great deal of thought. Not many can say that they had a helping hand and a guide book by their side throughout their college journey
Ms. Ange has taught and advised me in many life related compasses. She helped me expand my mindset, shared with me a flood of resources, displayed enthusiasm, and provided honest criticism.
Ms. Ange encouraged my growth. I became a student leader on campus and was elected president of many organizations on campus.
Looking back, Ms. Ange played a great role in shaping who I am today. Because of Ms. Ange and her guidance, I graduated College knowing where I can implement these lessons to help the greater majority.
Currently I work for the New Jersey Department of Health, and till this day I use many, if not all, the lessons Ms. Ange has taught me.
---Kaitlin West, Ed.M.
As an advisor, Ange is extremely proactive, often anticipating the needs of her students before they need help.
She is invested in making sure they are developed holistically, focusing on their academic, social, physical, mental and emotional well-being.
She shows up for them outside of her normal work hours, supporting their co-curricular events when she can, but still keeping a professional balance between work and personal life.
Her students often comment on how she is authentic, genuine, and resourceful.
---Aurely I. Nicolas, MSW
During the final months of the year 2021 a position had opened within my company for which I believe to be a great candidate however the process overwhelmed me.
I sought the assistance of Ange during the process and in the kindness of her heart, Ange took a whole day to repurpose my resume and proofread my cover letter to fit the position I was seeking all while promoting professionalism.
Though I was overwhelmed, anxious, and nervous, Ange never failed to provide words of encouragement, to pray and to walk me through the process by setting mock interviews, offering constructive criticism and making sure my wardrobe was interview ready.
As a result of Ange’s dedication, perseverance and guidance, I was able to secure the position in 3 months’ time. I am currently a people manager, overseeing at team of more than 9 case managers and making over 6 figures a year. Based on my personal experience, I am confident and can state with 100% certainty that Ange Benjamin seeks to provide the best to her client and I feel very confident in recommending her to anyone.”
---Janique Sanders, MPA

---Trissana Myers, MSW
Welcoming Ange to our team reminded the community the importance of having advisors who are empathetic and understanding.
She not only challenged those around her to push themselves, but she lit the fire under each of her students to show them their potential.
Despite the obstacles set before her students, Ange’s motivation, support and resourcefulness allowed them to be resilient both academically and within their personal lives.
Her nurturing, yet confident personality exemplifies what it means to be supported by someone who truly believes in you and your success.
